What We Do

DRAIMAR operates a fleet of dredgers and support vessels capable of performing large or small capital works, maintenance dredging projects, land reclamation and beach replenishment works. Working in coastal waters they are capable of dredging to maximum depths of 25m. The company also operates various Jack-up platforms in coastal waters to maximum depths of 20m. The platforms perform soil invesigation and ground studies associated with the engineering design of maritime structures.

Our marine engineering and consultancy division is responsible for the design and construction of steel sheet piling and concrete works to form quay walls, inset docks, and tubular piling to form dolphins. Activities also include the installation and protection of slopes subject to tidal erosion through the use of geotextile fabrics, mattresses, and tubes filled with granular spoil obtained from adjacent dredging operations. Operations have expanded to include the construction of piled foundations and steel framed buildings.

The core activities are supported by the earth moving department, which has a fleet of Caterpillar bulldozers, excavators, payloaders, dump trucks, and Terex cranes. The earth moving department is also supported by DRAIMAR's survey department which has a range of hydrographic and topographic equipment for performing bathymetric and land surveys. Through the use of current meters we also perform hydorgraphic studies by monitoring of the speed and direction of water flow in off-shore and tidal areas.

Since the company's formation the navigational aids division has installed over 100 navigation buoys of various sizes along the coast of Angola. The buoys assist with demarkation of existing shipping channels within the main ports and the channels formed by the company’s dredging operations.

Since February 2010, the Group has operated a Tarmacadam asphalt supply operation out of Luanda. The operation is able to supply all grades of asphalt at up to 80 tonnes of product per hour. Each delivery is mixed to the exact specification detailed by the end user.

DRAIMAR also has a fleet of equipment and personnel who perform the planning of existing roads and paving of new asphalt, and we have commenced works to relay the roads throughout the Port of Luanda. Within this division DRAIMAR also has a fleet of road haulage vehicles capable of transporting stone, bitumen, asphalt and containerised equipment.
